How do I know what my time is in this race?
In order to ensure accurate timing the running bib MUST be worn above the waist and securely attached with the four safety pins provided. We will announce the winners at the completion. We will post all the results on-line after the race, but you MUST remember your number! New this year (2012), we are proud to announce a partnership with Pretzel City Sports (PCS). PCS will professionally time both the Allentown and Reading Races.
Can I pick up a packet for a friend?
Yes. You will have to sign for the packet that you pick up in case there is some miscommunication. If you pick up a race packet and your friend does not get that packet – they will not be issued a new packet (which includes race number and t-shirt).
What about first aid?
Paramedics are alerted and on a zoned response. In case of emergency, dial 911. Additionally, there will be a first aid tent at the race site. If one is to need first aid along the route or become aware of another participant who may be in need, please advise water stop volunteers who will all be able to dispatch emergency medical care.
Where is the starting line? When should I get there?
All events will start inside the track at Alvernia University for the Reading Race/Walk. Via the announcement system runners will be advised to move to the start line of the race. The 5k will start first with the one-mile walk starting last. The Pottstown 5K will be held at Warwick Co Park. The Allentown 5K will be held at Lone Lane Park, Upper Macungie Township. Check back for more information or contact the race directors.
How do I know if I won an award/prize?
Awards will be announced and presented to the top three overall males and females for the 5k. Awards will be announced to the top three males and females in each age category and available for pick up at the awards table. Awards not picked up on race day will be available for pick up by contacting us.
Is this run for “serious runners” only?
Though the event is formally timed, this hybrid event will feature both competitive racers and those treating the event as a fun run. There will be prizes handed out to top competitors and to others who participate.
